Our Story
Full of Faith Christian Center is a nondenominational fellowship of believers who have no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, and wear no name but Christian. We are a small, Christ-centered church family in Pomona, California, with a deep love for the Word of God, a heart for the inner city, and a calling to take the gospel wherever people are—not just inside four walls, but out into parks, streets, hospitals, and homes.
How We Began
Full of Faith was born in October 1983 from home Bible studies led by Pastor William Mims Jr. in South Los Angeles. After years of fellowship and spiritual growth at Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, Pastor Mims was led by the Spirit to begin teaching the Word in his home. What started as a small gathering of believers hungry for God’s truth grew into a church family committed to making disciples and living out the Great Commission.
In those early years, Pastor Mims frequently held church services in various parks throughout South Los Angeles, welcoming the homeless, park visitors, and anyone who would come to hear the gospel. Along with worship and the Word, the church freely distributed food, clothing, and personal necessities—living out the conviction that “freely you have received, so freely you give.”
Moving to Pomona
In January 1994, following the Lord’s leading, Pastor Mims moved the church to the Inland Empire, eventually planting Full of Faith Christian Center in Pomona. The City of Pomona graciously welcomed the church and made it feel at home. The outreach and park ministry that defined the early years in Los Angeles has resumed here, with services and evangelism continuing in parks such as Garfield, Ganesha, Frank G. Bonelli, and Washington Park.
Full of Faith has also joined with several other churches of different denominations in Pomona to form a Coalition of Churches—a partnership that reflects our belief in the unity of the Body of Christ and our shared mission to serve the city together.
Our Pastors & Leaders
Pastor William Mims Jr.
Pastor William Mims Jr. came to California from Memphis, Tennessee, to pursue a bachelor’s degree in architecture, but God had a different blueprint for his life. Two years after arriving, he began attending Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, where his relationship with the Lord grew deeper and his call to ministry became clear. In October 1983, after six years of fellowship there and under the leadership of Dr. Frederick K.C. Price, Pastor Mims was led by the Spirit to begin teaching the Word in his home. What started as a small gathering of believers hungry for God’s truth grew into a church family committed to making disciples and living out the Great Commission. In January 1994, following the Lord’s leading, Pastor Mims moved the church to the Inland Empire, eventually planting Full of Faith Christian Center in Pomona. Pastor Mims is married to First Lady Shirley Mims and they are the proud parents of four children and grandchildren.
Associate Pastor Byron Dredd
Associate Pastor Byron Dredd is the grateful husband of Melissa, and together they are raising three children while joyfully anticipating the arrival of their fourth. Byron serves at Full of Faith with a deep desire to see people become wholehearted followers of Jesus. His preaching consistently points people back to the cross and the new life offered in Christ. Drawing from passages such as 2 Timothy 2:3–4 and 2 Corinthians 5:17–20, Byron’s focus is to help believers live as surrendered soldiers of Christ, laying down old identities and representing the hope of Christ in a world that desperately needs Him.
Associate Pastor Percy Starks III
Percy Starks III is an assistant pastor at Full of Faith Christian Center in Pomona, California, ordained by Pastor William Mims Jr. on August 27, 2023. Percy gave his life to Christ on January 8, 2023, and was baptized by Pastor Mims at Holy Missionary Baptist Church in Pomona. A member of Full of Faith since 2014, Percy and his wife Miriam have been married for 31 years and are parents of four sons: Percy, Lawrence, Joshua, and Kashaun. Serving God in the kingdom-building mission to make disciples of all nations is Percy’s primary goal. With a special heart for men, he desires to align his life with what God says about a man’s purpose and place in God’s world.
Our Beliefs
We are a Bible-believing church that holds to the essential truths of historic Christianity:
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and our final authority for faith and life.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, who died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by works. All who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus are saved and receive eternal life.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer, empowering us for holy living, spiritual growth, and service to God and others.
The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, called to love God, love people, and make disciples of all nations. The Church exists not just to gather, but to go—taking the gospel into the world.
Our Mission Today
Our mission is simple and biblical: to direct and accompany the people of God into the world and to equip them to make disciples of all nations. We are committed to:
- Compassion in love – caring for the hurting, overlooked, and marginalized
- Excellence in service – giving our best in all we do for God and others
- Holiness in everyday living – walking in obedience to Scripture in every area of life
- Passionate, reverent worship – honoring God with our whole hearts
We welcome all ethnic groups and segments of our community without distinction or separation. Our desire is to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, help them grow in biblical obedience, and equip them to serve both the church and the world.
